Ruminations on the House bill.

An alright Health Care Reform bill passing with regressive pro-choice legislation tacked on is a fucking shame. It is on the level of sneaking good ideas into defense spending bills in order for them to be passed into law.

Not really as satisfying as passing good, single minded legislation. (As if that ever happens.)

What a fucking twisted mess. This had better be fixed with a followup bill or tweaked in the Senate/House negotiation process.

The same message came out of NY-23. The Teapartiers tried to turn it into a referendum on national issues and got their teeth handed to them in a bag. Owens won because he was local and understood local issues. Hoffman lost because he knew nothing about anything in the district, and the sole plank in his platform was, “Send me to Washington and I’ll vote against everything Obama wants to do.
